Bio

Sing Me A River (David Lum and Kathy Lepp) is a folk-pop songwriting duo from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

David made his way across Canada, spent a decade in Winnipeg before settling in Ontario. His music infuses a blend of contemporary folk and roots, with influences including renowned songwriters such as Bruce Cockburn, James Keelaghan as well as The Indigo Girls and Keb' Mo'.

He has made 3 independent CDs and has his own website at www.davidlum.com.

Kathy has been a professional music therapist for over 25 years, and brings to the group a wealth of life experience that inspires her songwriting with deeply personal lyrics and beautiful melodies. Her style ranges from Americana to Folk, with a touch of Jazz.

Engaging their audiences with originals (and covers they love), their songs are drawn from the honesty and variety of life's currents. David and Kathy can be seen performing around Southwestern Ontario.

History Dorothea, Kathy and David

Dorothea Smith (1956-2023) was a founding member of Sing Me a River.  Her kindness, generosity, talent and incredible songwriting will forever be remembered.

After meeting in 2015, these three individual singer-songwriters decided their folk/roots style became a more delicious mix with 3-part harmonies, multiple instruments and the fun of making music together.

Sing Me A River was born.

Three musical kindred spirits were brought together, and for almost 9 years, made some of the most beautiful, harmonious and lyrically-profound music around. Sadly, Dorothea left this world in November 2023 but her music lives on.

With her family's blessing, David and Kathy will carry on as Sing Me A River.

A future project will include recording an album of Dorothea's songs in memory of her music and spirit.
